Higher Grounds is my most frequented coffee shop in OKC. I am thankful it is outside the downtown/midtown area - offering a local solution for a normal commute.
The service is always great here, and genuinely acts as if they like their job.
The only recommendation I have for higher grounds is to add comfortable chairs at the tables. The metal chairs, while trendy, are very uncomfortable.

Totally wasn't expecting this cute shop! It's been on my "to do" list for awhile and I was finally nearby when I was in need for a box of goodies. I didn't have time to sample coffee but I did fill three boxes of various deliciousness that was on display. Cookies, macaroons, parfaits OH MY!
Not only did they look amazing, they tasted great too. Major plus factor was that they weren't stale the next day. We got to enjoy all over again!
The cookies were HUGE and thick and my fav was the chocolate chip pecan.
Definitely will be going back! -

They know how to make their product right. Dirty chai is chai tea with a shot of espresso. First time I had it that way and now I'm hooked. This is now my crack, thanks higher grounds! AND I DON'T LIVE HERE WHAT AM I GONNA DO!!!!! My daughter fell in love with the honey latte she asked for and needles to say she feels the same way as me. This was a great choice but also sucks because now we will crave it and not be able to just go.

At the time of this review, I'm the Duke of Higher Grounds (HGCS). I have so many check-ins to my name that some wannabe finance-blogger is chomping at the bit to tell me that my coffee habits are keeping me from getting rich slowly/moderately/quickly/etc.
Anyway, it's safe to say that I've experienced most everything that HGCS has to offer at this point. And while I still appreciate HGCS for being an oasis in the Charbucks desert of NW OKC, I kinda have to drop a [*]. I mean, I really don't have to do anything. It's more accurate to say that I want to drop a [*].

HGCS is under new ownership. In-and-of-itself, this isn't a bad thing; the new owners are just as capable / bought-in as the old ones. But some things have still changed:
1. Prices have gone up. Not by much, but enough to where it's noticeable. And because I visited so often, I memorized the prices:
- HGCS 12 oz (ca. 2016) = $1.75 (without KILOK*)
- HGCS 12 oz (ca. 2018) = $1.95 (with KILOK*)
- HGCS 12 oz (ca. 2019) = $2.15 (with KILOK*)
- Charbucks 12 oz (ca. 2019) = $2.12
I used to tell everyone, "Go to HGCS, because it's better than Charbucks AND it's cheaper." Thankfully, HGCS is still better tasting than Charbucks (most days). Also, pricing appears to have increased for other items as well; a latte is now almost $5.
2. I feel like the pastry/cake/dessert selection has... slimmed down a bit. If I remember correctly, everything was (and still is) made on-site by one of the ladies there, but lately it's less of the unique flavors of cake/pie, and more of the standard fare that you find in any generic coffee shop (e.g. danishes and the like).
Now do these changes matter in the grand scheme of things? I dunno. Depends, I guess. But I was willing to excuse HGCS on a lot because they didn't (and still don't) have the uppity vibe found at other coffee shops (i.e. Elemental, Evoke, Coffee Slingers, Clarity, etc.), and the prices matched that non-uppity vibe. But now, HGCS prices are approaching the rest of the uppity coffee shops in town, and is no different from Charbucks. So one of the major differentiators that made HGCS so appealing (to me) is gone.
All this to say, I still like it, but just a little less than before.

Decent, warm, cozy coffee shop that is the epitome of all coffee shops when it comes to looks and feel! The moment you walk in here you're drawn to the cozy tables, sofas oh and their wonderful fireplace!
Even the restrooms has the most trendy darling chalk painted furniture they even used a retro table for a changing table which is super nice to have by the way.
The food was delicious and their menu looked even more delicious! I just got the peanut butter cookie and it was perfectly crunchy and has a wonderful taste!
The coffee was not a fan i'd be happier drinking a water to be honest. Their creamer i'm not sure what exactly it was but it was in the big jug was not good I think it made my coffee even more bland!
Overall though, i'd come here next time and try a hot chocolate or something and would definitely snag another baked good! I think on the weekends, their menu is even bigger...
